Jimborino's Helper Application

New member
1. Minecraft User Name:
My Minecraft Username is Jimborino.

2. Age:
I am currently 18 years old.

3. Time Zone:
Central Standard Time (CST)

4. How much time can you dedicate to the server?
The time that I can dedicate to the server is generally the same amount each day, but at different times due to my coursework while at University. I believe I could dedicate between 3-5 hours to the server a day, but that could all come at different times, whether it be all in one sitting, or a few hours here and there early in the day, and then another few hours later at night. I’m a music major in college, so I spend a lot of my time practicing my instrument and getting better, but I also have other things going on, such as homework and my job, but I feel like I have a really good balance and use of time management to help me find time to contribute to the success of this server.

5. Have you ever been banned or punished by any server in the past?
The only punishment I can think of that I have ever gotten on a server was actually a 30 minute mute on ULMC due to my caps lock being on and typing in chat with all caps. Other than that, I honestly can’t think of any other times I’ve been punished on any Minecraft server, which is something I am very proud of.

6. Do you have any previous experience as staff on another server? If so when, where and what was your role?
I’ve had a couple minor staff positions on other servers, only one of which had a strong player base. The minor positions include being an Administrator on my brother’s own personal server, as well as Moderator on one of my friend’s servers, both of which never had more than 10 players online at a time. The only staff position that I’ve had that I actually consider to have been a serious position was on a small PvP server with a steady player count of usually around 30 players online at any given time. I applied to be a Helper, and once in the position, I was soon promoted to Moderator, where I stayed until the server closed due to funding issues. (I can give the name of the server if needed to anyone curious, I just didn’t feel it to be necessary to put it on here).

7. List any qualities that would make you stand out from others who are applying for helper.
I believe that there are many qualities that I possess that would make me stand out from others who are applying for helper. As I mentioned above when talking about the time I could dedicate to the server on a daily basis, I’m very busy. But I believe that with my good use of time management, I’ve proven myself to be hardworking, dedicated, and persistent in whatever I may be doing, which are all qualities that I will put forth for this server. A staff member needs to be diligent in doing whatever their part in making the server run smoothly is. I have a can-do attitude with whatever I may being. With everything I do, no matter how hard it may be, I always make sure to finish it with the best of my ability. If selected to be a helper on ULMC, I will treat it the way I would treat anything else I commit myself to; to do the best that I can to my ability.

8. List any qualities that you feel that would make you a good fit to the current ULMC team.
ULMC should feel like a second home to all players, no matter how long they have been a member of this family, whether that be a few days, or even a few years. It should be a safe place for many players, where they can come and relax, while having fun with people who are fun and are part of an incredible community. No matter what level of staff a player might have on ULMC, they should be passionate, caring, and dedicated towards the server and what happens on it. Even the average regular player who plays most days of the week might feel this way. If a player is not passionate and does not care about ULMC, why would they want to be on the staff team? I believe that I have proven to be all three of these things, as I have been a dedicated member of this server since I first discovered it in 2015. I have stuck around in the community through the shutdown and recent reopening, being a beta tester, and continuing to help improve this server that I’ve grown to love more and more each day. I’ve come to meet lots of amazing people throughout my time on this server, and many of them I can now consider my friends.

9. Chat can become toxic at times and as staff it is our job to manage it. Explain in detail ways you will be able to help with toxic chat. Provide examples of how you would deal with a player who is becoming super toxic in chat.
Toxic players in chat can be one of the hardest things to deal with when it comes to being a staff member on a Minecraft server, due to the fact that they are completely unpredictable when it comes to what they might do or say. A staff member could take the easy way out, and just mute, or even ban the player who is being toxic, but in most cases, I feel like that is a bit extreme, especially if they have not tried to talk to the player or work something else out. There are obviously some actions that will lead to punishment almost instantly, but sometimes a staff member might need more background information to decide on what is the proper thing to do. For starters, I would assess the situation. I would see what the toxic player is saying, who they are saying it to, and figure out why the issue started in the first place. I would talk to the toxic player and figure out why they are saying what they are saying, as well as talk to anyone else who could provide help, and get as much information as I possibly can to help come to a conclusion on the issue. Once all of the information I would need is gathered, I would talk to some fellow staff members to get some of their opinions as to what a good punishment, if necessary, would be.

What a nice detailed staff application. Currently our player base is small so we are not hiring any more helpers at the current moment. I will though leave this up and active and well will revisit your application when we have a bigger player base. Thank you so much for applying.
